A STATE OF THE ART DRUG TESTING FOR PACQUIAO VS MAYWEATHER MATCH

Mayweather's advisers Leonard Ellerbe and Al Hayman want a more sophisticated and complete dope testing than those conducted by the state sports commissions, purportedly to "protect their boxer.

The camp of of Floyd Mayweather Jr. is reportedly seeking a random, Olympic style drug testing for their fighter and seven division champion Manny Pacquiao in the run up to their targeted March 13 super fight.

Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach said he has no problem with the dope tests since Team Pacquiao "has nothing to hide" and added that this indicates Mayweather's fear of the Filipino ring icon's power, which has remained lethal as he climbs in weight.

I think its right to do those testing just to settle things about this substance issues. But i think its also an insult to Manny Pacquiao of having been accusing him of taking substance. Let those test start, finish the result so we the fans can watch what is billed to be the most awaited fight for next year.

FINALLY PACQUIAO VS MAYWEATHER MATCH IS ON

Finally the match that we've been waiting for between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is on, the date, March 13.

The fight is indeed happening as the pound for pound champ Manny Pacquiao agreed on the March 13 date in what is seen as the fight of the century.

Pacquiao met with Bob Arum recently in Manila and reportedly agreed in principle the terms laid down by Mayweather's camp.

Pacquiao did asked for some requirements which Arum believed won't hinder the negotiations, ike the type of gloves to be used.

Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's Canadian adviser, said that even though no contract has been signed yet the fight is a "done deal."

The fight would be at 147 pounds for Pacquiao's WBO welterweight title, which he won in November with an impressive 12th round stoppage of Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas.

The bout could be the richest ever assuming projections are accurate. Pacquiao's fight against Cotto sld 1.25 million pay-per-views, while Mayweather's comeback victory over Juan Manuel Marquez in SEptember did 1.05 million.

ALLEN IVERSON PART WAYS WITH THE GRIZZLIES

Well I think plenty of people who have follow Iverson's dilemma with the Pistons, saw this one coming before he even played with the Grizzlies. Iverson just don't want to come of the bench, he wants to start. Iverson is a great scorer but for me he can still help a team coming of the bench, but I think the superstar status in him or his pride doesn't agree.

The Memphies Grizzlies announced Monday that the team has ended its one year contract with the 10 time All Star and former MVP in what it called a mutual agreement. Iverson began an indefinite leave of absence on Nov. 7 to deal with a personal issue after playing only three games with the Grizzlies.

"Because of personal matters that forced him to leave the team on November 7, Allen will step away the game at this time, allowing him to focus on those matters," general manager Chris Wallace said in a statement. "As a result, we will be ending our contractual agreement with Allen, which allow both parties to move forward. We wish Allen the best."

Memphis owner Michael Heisley said he would be happy to trade Iverson to another team if a better deal came along.

PACQUIAO DEFEATS COTTO IN 12

It was a quite day yesterday November 15, 2009. There were no traffics, not much people at the streets or supermarkets. Almost all people was watching in their TV for Manny Pacquiao's fight against Miguel Cotto. And once the fight began I can hear yells from our neighbors house, since all of them are watching the fight too, and cheering for the pound for pound king. I never imagine Manny Pacquiao to dominate Cotto yesterday, since plenty of analyst said that this will be a fierce battle. Fierce indeed, but only on the first half of the fight, but as the fight goes on, you just can see how dominating Manny Pacquiao was.

Pacquiao used his speed and power from both his hands to win his seventh title in seven wieght classes and cement his stature as the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Cotto took such beating that he was force to back pedal and not engage Pacquiao. Cotto's face was a mess with river of blood flowing on his face from the fury of punches from Pacquiao.

Pacquiao manage to dropped Cotto in the 3rd round but Cotto wasn't badly and manage to come back strong to finish the round. But after Pacquiao drop Cotto again with a big left on the forth round, it was their that Cotto wasn't the same again.

Cotto on the later rounds was just trying to survive as blood flowed down his face as the "Pacman" kept coming at him relentlessly.

Referee Kenny Bayles stopped the fight after seeing Cotto being pummeled by Pacquiao at the ropes.

"Miguel Cotto is one tough opponent. He took a lot of punches but still wouldn't go down that easily," said Pacquiao after the fight.

Pacquiao collected his 7th world title with the win getting Cotto's WBO(World Boxing Organization) welterweight crown and the diamond studded WBC(World Boxing Council) Diamond Belt, an honorary championship given to elite boxers.

DOES A NON BEARING GAME BENEFIT SMART GILAS?

Does making games by Smart Gilas against PBA team a non bearing game benefit them? The PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios took into account the interest of the country in coming up with a crucial decision concerning the RP-Smart Gilas team’s participation in the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup.

Given two options by the Board, Barrios decided to alter instead the arrangement of the nationals’ participation in the season-opening meet, rendering all their games – past and future – as no-bearing, instead of not allowing big man CJ Giles to see action in the team’s remaining games.

The commissioner bared the new set-up Thursday after hearing complaints from governors over the unpredictable playing minutes of the 6-foot-11 Giles, the observations from a former national coach and the remarks from players alike.

Governors immediately questioned the move by coach Rajko Toroman the following day, wondering why the Serbian mentor benched his intimidating inside force against the Tropang Texters, whose owner, Manny V. Pangilinan, is also the president of the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas, the governing body for amateur basketball that bankrolls the RP Team.

I myself is having second thought of which is beneficial for the Smart Gilas, If they play a non bearing games, will PBA teams take the games seriously? will coaches bench their starters to protect them from being injured? Now if the games were not a non bearing one, PBA teams would take Smart Gilas seriously as what we have witness in their previous games, but the PBA also arrived at a common thought that since games before by Smart Gilas had effect on the win-loss standings of the PBA teams, the level of intensity against the Nationals have been at a level that results in physicality and ruggedness.

What do you think?? does it help Smart Gilas making games a non bearing one?

BROCK LESNAR WITHDRAWS FROM MATCH AGAINST CARWIN

Ohhh, what a shame, i was waiting for this to happened, and now will have to wait next year for it to happen. I really like to see this two behemoth fight each other in the octagon. But Lesnar the reigning UFC heavyweight champion was forced to withdraw Monday from his highly anticipated fight this November 21 against Shane Carwin.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the news, saying Lesnar has been ill for more than 3 and a hlaf weeks and unable to train. With the bout at UFC 106 less than a month away, Lesnar was forced to postpone the title defense.

"He said he's never been this sick in his life," White said. "He said it's been going on for a long time and he just hasn't been able to shake it."

The fight matched two of the biggest and most powerful heavyweights in the UFC. Lesnar (4-1), a former WWE star, was a junior college and NCAA division 1 wrestling champion. Carwin (11-0) is a former Division 2 national wrestling champion. Both weight around 295 pounds and cut weight to make the heavyweight division's 265 pound limit.

MACHIDA RETAINS TITLE

I haven't seen the live coverage so I have to wait another day for the replay which was shown on studio 23 at about 12 midnight. I was anticipating this fight for days now, being that Lyoto Machida has never been defeated going up against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua who was impressive in his last two fights.

At the start of the fight you can just see how prepared Shogun was against Machida's counters, and it was the first time that Machida have been dominated at a round. During the course of the fight Shogun was patient, waiting for the right time to attack with his powerful kicks, unlike past opponents of Machida who would just storm at Machida and receive powerful counters from the champ. Shogun was very tactical, he concentrated more on kicks to Machida body and legs and rarely attempted to take down the champ.

At the end of the fight Machida has a bloody mouth, bruised ribs and maybe have injured his legs cause looking at the fight the quickness of his legs weren't there.

Then came the announcement of the winner. The 3 judges scored it 48-47 for Machida winning it via a unanimous decision. Fans booed the result, I too was disappointed of the result.

After the bout, Machida refused to say whether or not he agreed with the decision, just noting that all three referees saw it that way.

But was ask another question if he would like to give a rematch for Shogun.

"Whenever he wants, I'll try again," Machida said about the prospect of a rematch. "No problem."

I hope there would be a rematch.

BK ARBOLEDA SUSPENDED FOR THE WHOLE PBA SEASON

Burger King point guard Wynne Arboleda was suspended without pay for the rest of the 2009-10 Season. Arboleda went after a heckler at courtside during the Whopper’s game against Smart-Gilas at the Araneta Coliseum last Friday, landing a kick and some punches before being restrained by cooler heads. (Watching live at TV of just what happened reminded of the Ron Artest scuffle when he was still playing with the Indiana Pacers, he also was suspended for the whole season). The suspension means P2.73 million in lost income for Arboleda, not counting won game, advancement and player award bonuses. For committing two flagrant fouls penalty 1 in the game, the nine-year PBA veteran also drew a P20,000 fine and a one-game suspension, which would be served on Wednesday in their game against the San Miguel Beermen.

I think the PBA decision is correct a player should not just go straight into the stands and assault a fan, since the fans are not only paying to see the game, without the fans there wont be a PBA in the first place. But in fairness to the players, the PBA should also implement a strict rule on fans behavior especially those fans with unruly behavior.

In the end the fans and the players must be protected and this must be put into work by the PBA.

heres a video of Arboleda hitting the fan.

SHOULD JAPETH AGUILAR BE BANNED FROM THE PBA?

Japeth Aguilar the number 1 overall from this year PBA draft, refused to sign with Burger King. His decision prompted Burger King team manager and current PBA chairman Lito Alvarez to propose before the PBA board that Aguilar be banned from all PBA games.

Alaska team manager Joaqui Trillo, Alvarez's predecessor, said Aguilar broke PBA rules. He, however, did not specify which rules. “Burger King was shortchanged and that is not fair. The PBA has to stand for its rights and we will not allow anyone to make a mockery of its rules. Japeth will have to find a win-win situation. Otherwise, the PBA can do without him,” Trillo said. Aguilar is expected to face stiffer sanctions from the PBA, including a lifetime ban. The Philippine Cup kicks off on October 11 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Now is it right or is it possible to ban a player from playing in the PBA cause he did not sign with the team that drafted him? how about those other players who were pick by other team( especially those in the second round) and later was not signed by their team. Should the team be penalized for not signing the player they have picked? This case with Japeth is a familiar thing in the NBA most recent is Ricky Rubio case though lets not dwell deeper in that issue.

I myself don't know the reason why Japeth Aguilar didn't sign with Burger King, maybe he think he can gain more experience playing with Smart Gilas, or maybe he can become a much better player under coach Toroman. Or is it the recent FIBA Asia where he wasn't given the playing time by Yeng Guiao?

What do you think will be the right verdict for Japeth's case?

SMART GILAS DOWNED POWERADE TEAM PILIPINAS

Is is the future of Philippine basketball were seeing? Maybe.. But last night, the young ones prevailed over the grizzled veterans.

Smart Gilas defeated the Powerade Team Pilipinas by 98-69. Watching last nights game i never thought it would be this lopsided, but considering the Powerade team haven't even practice a session together and the absence of key players Kelly Williams, Mick Pinnisi, Arwind Santos and this year MVP Jayjay Helterbrand. I just hope that what Smart Gilas have shown last night would carry them to the next Olympics. Although it would be a tall order, a very tall one, since they would have to defeat powerhouse countries like Iran, China, Lebanon, Jordan and more.

But going back to last night game. Smart Gilas a team who is working together for quite sometime now played a notch higher than the hastily reassembled Powerade Team Pilipinas. The special event, organized by the SBP in cooperation with its principal stake holders and the Araneta Center management, drew over P2 million in gate receipts and cash donations by individuals, including SBP president Manny V. Pangilinan and Harbour Centre owner Mikee Romero.

Japeth Aguilar led all scorers with 24 points with Mac Baracael contributing 10 points, Dylan Ababou nine and Mark Barroca and JV Casio eight apiece for Smart Gilas.

James Yap paced the PBA selection with 17 points on 8-of-19 field-goal shooting.

NO. 1 FEDERER LOOSES TO NO. 6 DEL POTRO

Juan Martin del Potro dethroned five-time defending champion Roger Federer 3-6, 7-6 (7/5), 4-6, 7-6 (7/4), 6-2 to capture the US Open on Monday, ending an era to win in his first Grand Slam final.

Having to watch it last night I thought it would be a cruise for world no. 1 Federer after cruising 3-6 in the first set, but at the middle of the second set you could feel the intensity of del Potro rising. Federer was two points from taking the second set in the 10th game before Del Potro fought back to break and took the tie-break to equalize.

"That one cost me the match maybe," Federer said. "I thought I had him under control for the first two sets. I was in a great position. If I had won that second set, I think I would have come through, but I didn't."

Federer struggled with his first-serve percentage, hitting only 50 percent for the match to 65 percent for Del Potro and converting only 5-of-22 break chances.

Del Potro fired 37 forehand winners, 17 more than Federer.

The loss ended Federer's 40 straight wins at Flushing Meadows and the quest to become the first person to win six straight titles at America's Grand Slam since Bill Tilden in the 1920s.

NBA GENERATIONS TEAM DOWN PBA ALL STARS

Dominique Wilkins, though slowed down by the passing years, lead the NBA Generations team to a 109-86 beat down of the PBA All Star in Manila, Philippines.

Dominique Wilkins who is know to all as "The Human Highlight Film" lead the NBA Generations team with 28 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. While the PBA All Star was led by "The Triggerman" Allan Caidic with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting in the opening quarter with Patrimonio sharing nine points and eight rebounds and Magsanoc adding eight points and three assists.

The PBA starting five of Caidic, Patrimonio, Wynne Arboleda, Arwind Santos and Asi Taulava held their own against Wilkins, Horry, Divac, Hardaway and Billy Thomas in a free-wheeling contest early on, giving the host team a 26-25 edge in the first quarter.

The fans had great fun then specially with Patrimonio knocking down a trey in his first attempt then Caidic taking over, rifling in five straight triples.

The Filipinos kept the game close through the second quarter before the Americans stepped up the tempo and slowly pulled away in the match.

Robert Horry, Tim Hardaway and Vlade Divac displayed flashes of brilliance as their contributions in the game serving as the Manila leg final tour of the NBA legends Asian tour which had its initial stop in Korea a week ago.

Horry converted two of three three-point attempts and finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists, Hardaway got eight assists, seven points, and four rebounds while Divac put in eight rebounds, six points and two assists.

“I had a fun time. I enjoyed it. It’s been more than 10 years since I played in a game with a real competitive atmosphere,” said Wilkins

SERENA FINED $10,000 FOR HER OUTBURST

I think it was uncalled for, although the game was highly fought by the two ladies, intensities are at a high level. But she should not have given to her emotion's. There are plenty of kids and players that look up to her.

Serena Williams’ US Open title defense ended in bizarre, ugly fashion Saturday night, when she was penalized a point on match point after yelling and shaking her racket in the direction of an official who called a foot fault.

Williams lost to unseeded, unranked Kim Clijsters of Belgium, 6-4, 7-5, in a taut semifinal.

US Open tournament referee Brian Earley said in a statement Sunday that Williams has been levied the maximum possible fine for unsportsmanlike conduct, $10,000, plus a $500-fine for racquet abuse.

The fine is a mere pittance, even at maximum strength, since Williams received 375,000-dollar for her semifinal run at Flushing Meadows, her matches among the top drawing cards for ticket buyers and television viewers.

US television commentator Pam Shriver called for 11-time Grand Slam champion Williams to apologize for threatening the woman who called a foot fault upon the reigning champion to give Clijsters two match points.

Williams reacted by walked toward the woman who made the call, waving her racquet before her, and launching into a profanity-tinged tirade that led to an unsportsmanlike conduct violation.

Because Williams had already received a warning after smashing her racquet following the last point of the first set, the penalty point she was assessed handed Clijsters a berth in Sunday's final.

Williams will return to Arthur Ashe Stadium on Monday afternoon to join her sister Venus in the US Open women's doubles final against top seeds Cara Black of Zimbabwe and American Liezel Huber.

Clijsters hadn’t competed at the US Open since winning the 2005 championship. Now she will play for her second career major title Sunday against No. 9 Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark.

JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ DRINKS HIS OWN URINE

I just saw this on TV last night and went on to find the video on the net, luckily I found one at YouTube. Is it true or not, you make the judge for it. But i think he's just trying to psyche out Floyd Mayweather Jr. just maybe trying to get a psychological edge against your opponent by drinking his own urine, he talks about drinking his own urine cause he don't want to waste all those vitamins he took that might come out of his urine, so why not drink it back again. Hmmm makes sense, but all i know is urine is an aqueous solution of approximately 95% water, with the remaining percentages being metabolic wastes such as urea , dissolved salts, and organic compounds.

Marquez isn't even the only world-class fighter who drinks urine; UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida also drinks his own urine. If it's good enough for Marquez and Machida, it's probably worth trying for other pro athletes.

Care to try it? If its me hell no hahahaha.
